Belquior Ansallour

Description

Most important is the man. Sitting in the stone chair so as to face you is a Tiefling of sharp features. His skin is red with a slight hint of orange, eyes steel-blue mirrors without irises. He spots long hair tied neatly into a bun, and a bit of a fashionable goatee.

His attire is simple yet noble, dark clothes trimmed in gold and a purple cape thrown around his left arm. Most notable are the gold and ruby diadem on his forehead, and his dark purple horns whose tips appear to have been replaced by crystalline prostheses, if not naturally this way.

He has a pale, dwarven steward, Arghal.

"Belquior's been real annoyed at the folks complainin' 'bout his sewers. 'Eard there's some places that got backed-up or whatever? Even sent out requests to help clear 'em. It's a real maze down below, I tell ya. So if I had to guess, he just don't wanna get yelled at at a time he's supposed to be playin' hero, aye?"

• Besieged within the Palace of Concordance by means of a death threat left in his office. Should he leave, he will be killed
  • Wording, in Common: "Do not leave the Palace from now, Baron, or your life will be forfeit"
• We may have pointed him towards Magda for magical protection. But Frozz will likely shield his office from Divinations.
• He is being spied on. Flem spotted a Clairvoyance sensor in the great hall of the Palace during our meeting.
• We gave him both the Bullette Pup and the Pup head to stuff and mount as trophies.
• He has given us the Rod of the Prism-Grasper as a down payment for clearing the sewers, and promised 200 gold.
  • Expects results by evening of 23rd June, lol
• Distrusts the Guard by and large.
• His position is very unstable with the nobility of the Old City. Barons can and have been replaced / removed in the past, although the position is hereditary.
• Riga wants to gift-wrap him to Liviina Akra as a political mouthpiece.
  • Liviina is a touch hesitant about it.

• His dislike and distrust for the Disciples and the Guard seems to have personal roots
• Very awkward around Liviina Akra. Former lovers? Friends? Master-apprentice?

• His family has close, generational ties with House Veyrovar. The mere thought that Demoris Veyrovar could be dead, or missing, greatly frightened him. The Veyrovar connection is crucial for business reasons, as well as personal: his half-sister, Namara, is a Veyrovar illegitimate child.
• In his youth, he studied with Liviina Akra at The Epidote Plateau. A sorcerer of great promise. The two were romantically involved, but drifted apart under the pull of Reynaud Ansallour's influence.
• Some unspecified tragedy - likely having to do with a child, missing or dead - led him to almost burn out his own magic (or wrangle his soul until it was suppressed). Since then, 30 years have passed.
• The mere mention of Liviina's name brings about sadness and a desire for distance. So of course, we browbeat him into seeking The Ruby Disciples's assistance on June 25.
