Yuan-Ti
Ancient Yuan-ti once held considerably more power and presence than their modern counterparts. Just like Dwarves and Triton, they once ruled over empires throughout the world, with Jurdea being the more famous case. There, but not everywhere, they were considerably ruthless, ruling the jungles with an iron fist while the Triton took the swamps and sea. They eventually fell to a revolution of wizards, losing grace and respect. Since the maturing, many yuan-ti have been intermingling with Humans, Genasi, and dwarf alike, which brought on the transition into what is called modern Yuan-ti today- yuan-ti that more closely resemble Humans with particular snake-like qualities, such as fangs, serpentine eyes, patches of scales, or in rare cases even snakes or snake tails for hair.
Due to being created in part by Tiamat, a great number of the Ancient Yuan-ti joined her side in the draconic wars, facing severe losses of population size and losing what remained of their empires. Nowadays, nearly all living yuan-ti fall into the Modern side of the spectrum, with only a few of the Ancient kind remaining. Ancient Yuan-ti typically appear with snake heads, tails instead of legs, or even like a snakeskin version of a Dragonborn, visually.
