Creation Myth

In the beginning, there was nothing beyond an infinite plane of raw, unworked elemental essences and magic, constantly neutralizing each other. With time, the randomness of this phenomenon led to small pockets of stability to form. This was the perfect forge for creation of energies unbound, and from nothing, the seven gods were born. Together, they slowly shaped the chaos of elements surrounding them into the Elemental Planes as known today, the Material Plane, and its echoes, each taking charge of different elements of reality in accord to their own affinities; as Sardior created the parallel space in which the plane would reside and the portals necessary for travel, Midrán carved mountains and landscapes, Gaia brewed life into the first mosses and Katya weaved the chaotic magic into an organized fabric that encompassed all reality.

As life began to emerge and the first signs of sentient life appeared in them, the Astral Plane was spontaneously formed out of the collective mental energy of life, ever-expansive as it connected to the stabilized Elemental Planes.

Their work mostly finished, the gods saw themselves titans squabbling like children. Where did the domain over the Sun end and Nature begin, so intertwined as they were? What of knowledge stored in space in the forms of books?
Tiamat, intimately embracing the War they represent, took the first offensive. Out of her scales and blood, rose draconic beings that resembled her and Sardior, five pairs of soldiers, each taking the appearance of one of the titan's five heads. Fed by magic itself, the First Chromatic Dragons ravaged the lands, destroying mortals beloved by other gods.
Now, there was a clear, tangible imbalance. In desperation of seeing his carefully-crafted mountains and riverbeds torn apart by these dragons, Midrán rushed to work. First, he made the Giants from dirt, clay, stone, metal and diamond. They would stand guard in the oldest mountains, protecting the Father of Artificers' masterwork from these terrible lizards.

Second, Midrán called upon Sardior, who felt terror at the sight of creatures that looked like himself damaging the collective work of the Gods. With his help, they together made their own dragons. Out of a chassis of metal, words of Order and Good were carved into their constructed flesh, organic life breathed into the insides of their armor and Mind granted to them by Sardior. They would be on the frontlines, combating their chromatic predecessors.

The destruction was now concentrated, yet still much more than desired. Chromatic and Metallic dragons fought, turning pieces of the land into battlefields scarred by lightning, flame, and acid that made earth unsuitable for farming many generations in the future.

Sardior, feeling the pain of the mortals and a break in the natural cycle desired by Gaia=, set forth to create his own breed of dragons. He shattered his wings, using the many rubies left behind as cores from which his gemstone creations would grow. They would stand in the borders, not only between dragons but between planes. They would observe, mediate, and when necessary, take action, as guardians of the gods' collective interests.
Slowly, over time, the conflict between dragons died down. Isolated fights still occurred, once every few years, but now only on much smaller scales, not any more destructive than the wars humanoids loved so much.
The gods, however, still had their points of agreement and disagreement. They had learned their conflicts would need to be fought elsewhere, for this destruction made them increasingly dissatisfied. The souls of their creations had nowhere to move on to, wandering in The Astral Sea, becoming parts of Elementals, or being stuck in the Material Plane and its echoes. In order to tackle two problems at once, the gods truly banded together for the second time.

During the time the gods had been busy in their conflicts and creations, they were not the only ones to earn sentience from the chaotic soup that was reality in the beginning. The first Celestials and Fiends, creatures diametrically opposed, had escaped from the gods, fearing their power and impulsivity. These creatures, having found their own corners between the Elemental Planes, gave form to their homes.
In the Lower Planes, two factions were formed, constantly warring amongst themselves. In the Upper Planes, the Celestials began to understand aspects behind the work of the Gods, feeling pain in the destruction brought about by their wars and approving of the beauty of creation, when guided properly.

While the Gods suffered from not having a place to send the souls of their creations, the Celestials made themselves known, offering their halls of marble, crystal, and light. Yes, the place seemed fair for ‘good’ souls, but there was no space for those who wished for- or deserved- conflict.
These were sent to the Inferior Planes, joining the Fiends to fight their eternal wars, and sate Tiamat.

The Celestials, before simply observers, now placed themselves as mediators, working alongside the Gem Dragons in interplanar conflicts. With that, the gods had come across their final representatives.
